[He's quiet for a second or two, digesting that. Then:]
I guess.
But... why not just do that in the first place, if they knew to trap somewhere we'd be anyway? Why put the extra effort in to get us out to somewhere specific... y'know?
Or with some kinda set-up. It had to be magic, right? Maybe there had to be some kinda written whatever, or it had to be real dark, or something. Otherwise why bother calling us out?
[He thinks about it, for a long couple of seconds.]
...or maybe he didn't know where we usually go or something.
Kinda weird it's all been at whatshisname's house, though, yeah? Even though P was supposed to've grabbed him.
...but yeah. That's what they wanted from him, right? So - they had to be trying to get him to give up the info, or do whatever it is they needed him to do to get them in.
[He's quiet for a long couple of seconds - curls into her a little closer.]
So either. Either what they got outta broadcasting was worth giving up the secret over, or else whoever it was wasn't part of the cover-up to start with.
They for sure didn't have what they needed out of Elly though, right? Goat dude was saying it was some kinda test.
I mean. It probly didn't hurt that they got to, like - you know. Do some collateral damage. But I'm pretty sure if they were gonna hurt us just cause, they woulda done it right away.
Until you don't feel like you're flopping around in there, I guess? I'm pretty sure I never done anything like this before, so kinda guessing on a lot of this.
Figure it can absorb if you start leaking again, too...the bandages should be good for a little longer.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
No point in setting up an ambush if you don't need an ambush.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
Yeah... But couldn't they just set up more ambushes, is what I'm saying? Like...set some trick portal at the doorway to the hideout or something...

Who wants to watch people walking places?
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[And her voice wavers a bit, as if recalling the feel of being pinned under that empty gaze, held by the long, slender fingers]
--Maybe they weren't after us in the first place. Maybe we were just the first guys to write 'em back.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
He said it was on purpose. Why would he bother lying? He wanted us to - to put on a show, right? Better for him if we knew what was up.
[A thought seems to strike him.]
...hey. Why did he know about the angel?
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[Huddles in]
Probably wanted him to spill the beans on how to get into Heaven or something...

Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
...Even though I thought they were trying to keep it secret, the whole angel thing. That's why--when they said they broadcast it...
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
I kinda figured... they'd keep it on the down-low.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[If there's even sense to be made of something like this...]

Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
...If they'd already gotten what they'd needed outta Elly, maybe they figured they could spill the beans to punish somebody else... Like us.

Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[Sucks in a long breath]
...Lemme finish wrapping your eye before we gotta start over or something.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[He ducks his head a little.]
Good call.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
...Pack that in and I’ll wrap to hold it in place.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[He takes the cotton wad, careful.]
How... how much am I packing in, here?
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
Figure it can absorb if you start leaking again, too...the bandages should be good for a little longer.
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[Presses the cotton in - winces - goes to take it back, but holds it there, instead.]
I think - that's probly good?
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
[Tucks the end of the gauze under his finger as well, and begins winding the gauze around his head a few turns]
...Okay? Too tight?
Re: [Day 169, after they have left the theater]
I think - I think that's okay.
