[She straightens up--hesitates--slowly unwraps her scarf. Hesitates again, then tugs it the rest of the way off, and unbuttons the first few buttons of her shirt.

A few beats later, a crease forms in the shadow under her chin; another in the crevice of her neckline. A moment later they wink open, wide, empty eyes staring out from her skin. More follow, faster, equally blank]

[Hesitates, then leans in to get a closer look]

[Her expression goes a little strained, and some of the eyes turn towards him, the movement sharp.

Others stay still--others just close, the skin beneath smooth as if there had never been anything there; blink open again in slightly different locations]

It...it's hard to focus. But...maybe, if I practiced.

Just stick your hand around a corner and check out what's going on.

Dunno about all that. Pretty sure people'll feel eyes on the back of their neck even if they're coming from the back of my neck...

[The tension in her shoulders loosens a little, however]

[He starts to reach out toward her - hesitates and glances up, like he's asking for permission]

[She nods, small, and pulls open her collar a little wider]

[He reaches out the rest of the way, careful, to touch the place where one's just closed]

[The skin is smooth and flat—no bump, no scar, no ridge]

...huh.

[He reaches out toward one of the open ones - runs a finger down the eyelid, careful, like he's encouraging a child to close its eyes and sleep]

[Goosebumps at the touch, but otherwise once it closes, there's no trace it was ever there.]

What happens if they open under your scarf or whatever, and you get cloth in your eyes?

...Dunno, I never noticed. Mostly I try not to think about them.
