[Keeps it up for a long few moments, just letting her enjoy it, before he pulls back at last to gently wash out the shampoo]

[Conditioner comes next, his fingers combing it gently through the wet strands of hair]

[Another soft, soothed sound as she continues to melt into the tub]

[This takes a lot longer than it needs to, as well. Probably however long the bottle says to let the conditioner sit, this takes longer. But he massages her scalp, gentle - her temples - the tight spots at the base of her jaw, fingers slow and careful]

[By the time he's done she's more than half asleep, boneless in the water]

[He rinses her hair out, just as gentle - reaches into the bath to pull the plug]

...c'mon, we better get you outta here and into bed.

[She makes a little grumble of acknowledgement as the water drains away around her--gets as far as leaning towards the edge of the tub before taking a rest break. Of course, if ever he comes close, she cants towards him as if turning towards the light]

[He can't quite suppress the soft smile as she curls in toward him - gets an arm around her, for support, and then wraps the towel around her, as well, begining to rub her dry]

[Hums, pulling an arm up around his back and hooking her face into his shoulder]

[It lets him reach just about everything, to dry her off, and he makes quick work of it, gentle but efficient, toweling off both skin and hair. He has to pull back a little at the end, to get the parts lower to the ground, but he takes care of those, as well]

[When he's finally finished, softly:]

I'm gonna pick you up again, kay?

...C'n walk.

[Which is neither a refusal in word nor tone. She reaches to keep contact with him regardless, too drained to pretend she wants anything else]

I know you can. You don't gotta, though.

[He scoops her up again, towel and all, in a princess carry]

Mmm...

[She cuddles in even more heavily, nuzzling into him]

[He curls her a little closer, and presses a kiss to the top of her head, and brings her over to the bed - sets her down on one side, and goes around to the other to pull down the covers on the other]

Kay... scoot over?

[She scoots closer to the edge of the bed, kicking uncoordinatedly at the covers before just lying in place, fuck it]

...Coming?

Was gonna get you PJs first. You oughtta eat something, too. That game was real long.

[Groans, though it is certainly true. She rolls to her side, flopping an arm out towards him nonetheless]

Inna minute. C'mere? Just f'r a little.

[Hesitates, then sits down on the side of the bed - then, after a beat longer, lays down beside her]

[She closes the rest of the distance more or less mindful of her bandages, curling up and resting her forehead against his sternum. Whatever it is she says is muffled in his chest, but her fingers curl in the fabric of his shirt]

[He loops his arm around her, gentle, and curls her in closer - presses a soft kiss to her hair]

[Another muffled sound, this one more obviously relief. A beat later there's faint scrabbling at his neckline, unbuttoning his shirt so she can nose against the cool of his skin; press her lips to where his heart should be]

[He takes a shaky breath in - rubs along her back, careful]

Hey... it's cool. I got you. I'm here.

[Presses in closer, face warm and a little damp--wraps her arm around his back to tug him closer, too]

[Goes where he's urged, settling in against her - presses another soft kiss to her hair, because she's here, and she's mostly in one piece, and he can]

[From how she holds on, those are plenty fine reasons. She speaks, lifting off enough to be understood this time, though her voice is small]

[His hand hasn't stopped moving, slow and steady]

After all that, you deserve to take it easy for a while.
