[Nemesis is waiting in the appropriate spot at the appropriate time, hair tamed and carrying a small bouquet--long stems of bluebells, lily of the valley, sunflowers, carnations, and a pink rose, tied with a tyrian and navy ribbon. She rocks back on her heels as she waits, the anticipatory type of nervous, but straightens as Requiem approaches]

[ ... squeezes her a bit tighter, possessively, face flushed. ]

Sorry, but you got bad taste in women! Though I guess I shouldn't complain too much...

[wriggles around to plant a kiss on her cheek and to be able to embrace her properly herself, smiling shyly at her flush]

My taste in women is great.

[ it's almost sulky, now, curling her arms around Nem's back with her fingers curled into her shirt, burying her heated face in against her shoulder. ]

... m'not good at words but she's strong and kind and warm and she's always trying her best. And she never gives up-- never backs down-- wants to learn new things all the time. Keeps hangin' around with me even though I do stupid things all the time, would drop everything to help if one of her peeps were in trouble. She's up for any goofy thing all the time, pretty much, and she laughs at my bad jokes, and she always... sits down and talks to me when I'm feeling bad.

And it took-- a bit, to get in good with her, I think. And even though we're the way we are together now, it still feels-- when I can make her laugh, or get her excited, or she lets me touch her, it still feels real... real good.

... sometimes when she's real happy, she does this... this little smile. She's real quiet about it. But when I see that it's like I'm really doin' something right, for once. I wanna keep doin' right, for a long time.

[it works out that Requiem isn’t looking at her, because Nemesis immediately looks away, heat washing over her cheeks and down her neck. Her arms wrap around Req’s waist, shaky right for a long beat]

[ muffled, but not letting her go. ]

[still holding on, a little shaky]

[ stroking over her back, pulling back to look at her. ]

... you okay?

[blinks hard a few times before she dares looking up at Req directly, and she’s flushed from the tips of her ears down to her collar. Her smile is crooked but genuine, though she attempts to tuck her face into Req’s chest as soon as feasibly possible, embarrassed]

You caught me by surprise; wasn’t ready for that attack.

[ her smile somehow softens more, and she wraps her arms firmly around her to gently squeeze, burying her face against her hair. ]

Turnabout's fair play, isn't it?

[muffled, pouting]

That's a shame.

[ sits quietly for a moment, before, softly: ]

... love you.

[Makes a soft response, keeping her face buried but squeezing tighter]

[ giving her a nice firm squeeze in return, kissing her hair and remaining quiet, herself. ]

[breathes deep a couple times, a little hitch in the inhales, but otherwise stays put]

[ gently reaches up to stroke her fingers through the end of nem's hair, her voice soft. ]

... Kitty?

[Nods without raising her head, unclenching her hands from Req's shirt and smoothing them over her back instead. Eventually, quiet:]

...Mm?

You okay...?

[unbr8kable]

[Nods again, eventually turning her face to rest it over Req's heart. Her voice is a little rough and lashes low and shiny behind her glasses; her cheeks are flushed dark]

I-I'm good. Uh, thanks.

[stakesthesame]

[ stares down at her with some worry, gently petting her hair still despite her small frown. ]

You don't seem good... sorry. If I-- if it was too much.

[unbr8kable]

No, I...just...surprised myself. You’re good.

[and she looks back with another hesitant smile; raises her hand to brush over Req’s cheek, terribly gentle]

[stakesthesame]

[ smiles back, hopefully reassuring, and lifts her own hand to cover nem's as she closes her eyes and presses in to the touch. ]

... alright.

[brushes over her cheekbone, and shifts so she can press a kiss to the other side of her jaw]
